Welcome to Cubudget ("we," "our," or "the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience while using our expense tracking application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Our Core Principle: Your financial data is private and belongs to you. We store all your expense data locally on your device by default, giving you complete control over your information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Expense Data: Transaction details, amounts, categories, dates, notes, and attachments you enter
  • Budget Information: Budget limits, financial goals, and spending preferences
  • Account Information: If you choose to use Google Sign-In for backup features, we collect your Google account email and profile information

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers
  • Usage Data: App features used, crash reports, and performance metrics
  • Ad-Related Data: Google AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and interaction data for personalized ads

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do NOT access your contacts, SMS messages, or call logs
  • We do NOT track your location unless required for specific features you enable
  • We do NOT sell your personal or financial data to third parties

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Core Functionality: To provide expense tracking, budgeting, and financial reporting features
  • Data Synchronization: If you enable cloud backup, to sync your data across devices using Firebase Storage
  • AI Insights: To provide on-device AI-powered spending insights and recommendations using locally processed data
  • App Improvement: To analyze usage patterns, fix bugs, and enhance user experience
  • Advertising: To display relevant ads through Google AdMob (you can opt-out in settings)
  • Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries and provide technical assistance

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

By default, all your financial data is stored locally on your device using SQLite database. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable backup features.

4.2 Cloud Backup (Optional)

Google Drive & Firebase Storage:

  • You can optionally enable encrypted cloud backups to Google Drive or Firebase Storage
  • All backups are encrypted using AES-256 encryption before upload
  • Your encryption key is derived from your Google account email
  • Only you can decrypt and access your backed-up data
  • You can disable cloud backup at any time from the app settings

4.3 Security Measures

  • End-to-end encryption for all cloud backups
  • Secure authentication using Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0)
  • Regular security updates and patches
  • No plain-text storage of sensitive financial data in the cloud
⚠️ Important: While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Please use strong authentication methods and keep your device secure.

5. Third-Party Services

Our app integrates with the following third-party services:

5.1 Google Services

  • Google Sign-In: For authentication and account management
  • Google Drive API: For optional cloud backup storage
  • Firebase (Authentication, Storage): For user authentication and encrypted backups
  • Google AdMob: For displaying advertisements

5.2 In-App Purchases

We use Google Play's In-App Billing for premium features. Payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play Store, and we do not store your payment information.

5.3 AI Processing

AI-powered insights are generated using on-device machine learning models (Flutter Gemma). Your financial data is NOT sent to external servers for AI processing.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

6.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal or financial information to third parties.

6.2 Limited Disclosure Scenarios

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize data sharing
  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party services (Google, Firebase) necessary for app functionality
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government regulation
  • Protection of Rights: To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and that of our users

7. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

7.1 Data Access and Control

  • Access Your Data: View all your stored expenses and financial data within the app
  • Export Your Data: Export your data as PDF or Excel files
  • Delete Your Data: Permanently delete all local data from app settings
  • Disable Cloud Backup: Turn off cloud synchronization at any time

7.2 Advertising Choices

  • Opt-out of personalized ads in the app settings
  • Adjust ad settings in your device's Google settings
  • Purchase the premium version to remove all advertisements

7.3 Account Deletion

To delete your account and all associated cloud data:

  1. Open the app and go to Settings
  2. Select "Delete Account" option
  3. Confirm deletion (this action is irreversible)
  4. All cloud backups will be permanently deleted within 30 days

8. Children's Privacy

Cubudget is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete such information from our systems.

9. International Users

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ. By using Cubudget, you consent to such transfers.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy within the app
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Sending an in-app notification for significant changes

Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Data Retention

  • Local Data: Retained on your device until you manually delete it
  • Cloud Backups: Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after account deletion
  • Usage Analytics: Anonymized data may be retained for up to 2 years for service improvement
